this is perhaps the most singularly accurate sentence I've ever read on 'the letter' => We have engineered a situation where the government is essentially guaranteeing asset owners will always win.

I would say that far more than the market is broken. If assets are guaranteed to always win, then the roughly 50% of the society that don't own any assets always lose. And we find ourselves with an American society (and seemingly the world at large) that is divided and confrontational in material, dangerous ways. History shows that this situation does not end well --- and that the asset owners don't always make out well. Personally, I would prefer to find ways to include more of the world in the prosperity and safety of financial security -- from a long-term selfish perspective. This is not an anti-capitalist opinion (for those who would like to suggest that). When you rig the system, that's no longer capitalism. Pure capitalism is actually what I'm advocating for.
