It's hard to know whether this is meant to be funny or not. Never have I read such ill considered nonsense. If it's satire it's failed. If it's real opinion then your opinions are worthless. Unsubscribed.

Imagine being such a Dunning-Kruger reject that you think the six-times bankrupt, whiny little bitch who needed his daddy to repeatedly bail him out, who promised Mexico would pay for a wall and he would lower prices on day 1 and countless other pieces of bullshit is some brilliant strategist.

Congratulations on being a gullible fuckwit.

He said they’re “working” because he’s focusing on short-term, surface-level effects that sound good politically or emotionally — not on long-term or overall economic impact.

He may have made the claim because:

1. Imports are down and he may see that as a win, assuming less reliance on foreign goods means more domestic production.

2. Some companies are shifting supply chains, which can look like a victory for U.S. manufacturing.

3. It fits a “protect American jobs” narrative which appeals to a lot of people, even if the economics don’t fully back it up.

But he’s ignoring or downplaying the costs like higher prices, limited actual job growth, and damage to trade relationships and economic growth.

So it’s not that he’s lying outright, but he’s cherry-picking surface wins while ignoring deeper losses. Classic spin.

Anthony, your incisive analysis brilliantly cuts through the media noise, spotlighting the tangible wins of tariffs—plummeting inflation, sinking yields, and shifting global trade dynamics—all within weeks.

The reciprocal tariff strategy is a masterstroke, leveling the playing field for American workers while nudging foreign nations to rethink their own barriers, as seen with Israel and Vietnam.

It’s refreshing to see such a clear-eyed, independent take that prioritizes real economic outcomes over partisan spin—proof that pragmatic policy can deliver for the working class without sacrificing long-term stability.

Im all for the working class as that is what I am.

counter points:

egg prices down because avian flu appears under control and demand has fallen

gas prices fallen because when you scream drill baby drill (even when your country is a net exporter) it will tend to drive prices down

impact of tariffs on inflation is lagging (you should know this)

10 yr dropping is also a potential indicator of recession

fed, goldman and others flashing recession warnings for first time in a long time

stock market trending the wrong way in 2025

many have been supporting the crypto things encouraging hope and optimism for a brighter future. i was hopeful for that too but mostly have seen a bunch of scams (but that is besides the point). we somehow think "tens of millions of Americans have a better chance of finding stable work" are going to be ok grabbing a lunch pale and clocking in at some factory. i don't think so. this is going backwards

gen Z is making MORE than earlier generations at their age (see the economist) - this was not accomplished by clocking into the local hub cap manufacturer. this is thanks to innovation, technology and creativity

The inflation rate you refer to, I believe, is a month over month rate, which doesn't look to bad. That number moves a lot, so in reality it doesn't matter much. How about you show the year over year? Although you will argue this president has only been in office for a short period of time, understandable. Fine, revisit this towards the end this term and show the year over year inflation rate. Feel free to quote this when you do, I believe that rate will be vastly different. I am disappointed you didn't point out this is most likely a month over month rate.

I hold you and your opinion in high regard. I have subscribed to your letter for awhile now and have typically seen a great deal of thought and process included. Lately and this email specifically are disappointing. I appreciate you time and consideration.

Look at the chart. On the left side it clearly states that it's a year over year rate measured daily.

The difference between this truflation rate and the CPI, is the way it collects data. It collects it in real time instead of looking backward. I'm not yet convinced it's more accurate but it's just another measure. When I consider gas and egg prices, it makes me think inflation is lower than the published CPI. But when I buy lunch or after work drinks, the truflation seems low.

As 25% across-the-board tariffs are about to go into place and the equities markets continue to be pummeled day after day after day, this shill somehow thinks that tariffs are actually working. Apparently he knows something that Wall Street’s best and brightest don’t. Riiiiiiight.

Best of luck getting a crypto-related job with the Trump administration. I hope all the dick sucking will be worth the payoff.

This has been the worst start to a presidency economically and worse economic quarter since COVID.

Trump is a sensationalist with no real plan. Let me guess diversity doesn’t matter either. Even though that’s what America was built on. The most diverse cities (NYC) and states also happen to be the most prosperous. These are facts, not opinions. Meanwhile the least diverse states (Wyoming) are not. I wonder why. Same goes for companies (Apple etc.)

You used to provide real analysis before you became a political pun. It’s sad to see. America isn’t blue or red. And these tariffs are unfounded and are doing more harm than good.

This pathetically ignorant commentary will age like milk. Let's revisit in 3 months. Why would Pompliano destroy his entire credibility with one idiotic post on Substack? I presume he's hoping to be spotted by the Trump administration and be hired in their crypto team. It won't work. I note that the only supportive posts here are from maga idiots. He's just made himself look like a gullible fool with zero knowledge of trade or economics, which is unfortunate for someone whose livelihood is derived from commenting on finance related topics. How to commit career suicide. Moron.
