I find it harder to find meaning in work these days. I think a portion of that stems from that modern world where I find myself surrounded by comforts but still being told to meet deadlines at work. Surely it was "easier" to come to grips with being a Roman warrior back in the day as opposed to bagging groceries now....Its almost like we are paralyzed by comfort
Love this - thank you for your weekly breakdowns of books. I think your perspective is right on. A book I would recommend reading if you haven’t is How to get Rich by Felix Dennis
Great to see a prominent figure (you Pomp :) )offering time and energy on content that addresses the bigger themes. Once we awaken (later in life unfortunately for knuckleheads like me) , we continually search for the answers to these important ideas/thoughts. Really appreciate this piece :) a lot of wisdom and perspective which i wish i paid more attention to when i was younger :)
*insert highly critical comment about a book review*
However, as someone doing a book a week review this year as well, I do find myself wondering the proper depth for these blogs. Initially, I imagined that the point was to pique interest into these works - not so much write my musings on each novel. However, the feedback I’ve received does seem to point to a desire for a level of profundity in each review
Thanks Pomp! VERY Timely. I appreciate your willingness to take feedback gracefully and learn. Now, if only those who provide feedback could practice the same. You don’t need to do this, and I appreciate your efforts to help me save time and get a couple of quick ideas to practice during the day.
Great post and insights on Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Could not help but think of Professor Jordan Peterson in many of the statements you referred to. Would love to get down to Miami in March for your event but we already will be driving down from The Villages, FL in April for 2 week cruise then soon after again for Bitcoin 2023. ---mikeD

Have a wonderful rest of your week!

Outstanding job. Thanks, little shot of being able to have found the time to do this.
oh wow just what the internet needed
Another mediocre, warmed-over synopsis of Meditations
Groundbreaking stuff!
