Other worldly quickness in his punches and kicks. His movies had an artistic quality to the fight scenes, esp against Chuck Norris, which vaulted Mr Norris to his own fame. Martial arts today, predominantly, MMA, is just a brutal beat down as entertainment. As you and this book make clear, there was a lot more than to him than just his fighting skills.
