Your take on the war on drugs is completely wrong. The reason that drug use has increased is because the drug dealers for the most part run free. With Anti-Money Laundering laws in the War on Drugs, the focus was taken away from stopping the illegal drug trade and the focus was put on seizing assets from the illegal drug trade. The funds that are seized in these actions are funds that are given to those law enforcement agencies as a reward. The fact that law enforcement benefits from seizing liquid asset such as cash or money on account takes away what should be the focus, which should be the seizure of the drugs. The seizure of the drugs does not benefit law enforcement agencies as the drugs are destroyed, hence there is no incentive. Anti-Money Laundering laws are simply a tax on the illegal drug trade which enables the business to continue to grow. Sure, the occasional seizure upsets the criminals in the trade, but it is a mere pittance compared to how much they are earning. The War on Drugs only benefits Drug Dealers and Law Enforcement. The world is foolishly believing that these laws serve any other purpose. As long as the two entities benefit, children will continue to die on our streets because the drugs will never be stopped. I believe all Anti-Money Laundering laws should be repealed. They are an obvious failure,
