Cosmic Insignificance Theory reminds us of a habit of Theodore Roosevelt’s. He and a friend, would often go outside and view the stars. They’d spend time imagining how small they were in relation to earth, how small earth was in relation to the sun, how small the sun was compared to other stars, and how small stars are compared to the universe. After sufficiently humbling themselves, they’d retire to bed.
Wow. This one hit me hard. It resonates in so many ways. I both want to read the book (because the highlights ring so true) and don’t want to read the book (because it causes an honest human to face the comfortable truth of the unstopping imbalance between aspiration and happiness).

Never heard that story before. Love the lesson in there. Thanks for sharing
