Look at what's happening with $10M in donations to the Canadian truckers. GoFundMe froze the funding and GiveSendGo got hacked. Orwellian financial censorship is already upon us.
I do love myself some Orwellian Fear but to be real, financial censorship has been a basic human problem for thousands of years. I feel like Pomp is most importantly pointing out, for the first time in human history, people have a chance to escape that reality.
With all due respect, if the US government were to classify Bitcoin as a rogue currency with the capability to destabilize the US dollar and thereby outlaw it, they sure as hell could use their power to arrest those who hold Bitcoin. Look at the unlawful pandemic decrees and mandates they have enforced. "Government is a corporation with a monopoly on violence." - Elon Musk
Not sure how the United States would arrest the approximately 46M citizens which hold BTC at the moment but let's say they could. Why would they given the context of BTC globally? Wouldn't that severely handicap the U.S. within the global community? I can't think of one country that would complain about not having to deal with the dollar as the global reserve. Seems like a bad move to ban something the rest of the world can/will readily adopt as their own.
They will not allow a digital currency to jeopardize the dollar because then they lose control. And they only need to arrest 10 people and put them through hell on the nightly propaganda news channels to scare everyone else. Look at what Trudeau is doing in Canada right now freezing peoples bank accounts. I’m a crypto fan I just think we have to be realistic about how the government is going to react as crypto gains traction.
Again, I don't see the advantage of banning Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency. Putin of all people has officially recognized crypto as a currency. Wouldn't banning cryptocurrency in the United States open up the floodgates even more so for the rest of the world to Mass adopt crypto?
Trudeau can freeze all the bank accounts he wants, he can't touch people's non-custodial crypto wallets. Same for any other government. This may be what people like Putin saw when he realized there were millions of wallets amongst Russians he has zero control of.
Not a single Western leader has condemned Trudeau's actions against a peaceful and lawful protest. Why? Because governments only maintain legitimacy through force. They're already regulating crypto. https://twitter.com/TrueNorthCentre/status/1493347561876471809
