To investors, Jack Dorsey sent the tweet heard ‘round the world on Friday night. He explicitly called out hyperinflation, which has been historically considered an off-limits topic for executives and politicians in developed nations. As you would expect in today’s internet age, everyone started to pile in and call Jack Dorsey uninformed, stupid, irresponsible, and much more.
All of this could be true. But that doesn’t mean the reactions to his tweet were wrong.
His tweet is offers 0 context and is click baity. It insinuates the literal downfall of our world as we know it and yet he’s just so cavalier about it. I agree with everyone who said this was irresponsible. It’s not about experts “asking for his data” (Im sure some are). It’s about him proactively initiating a conversation with leaders to explain what square data is showing (again, maybe he did). I just don’t see the point of this tweet. What’s he really trying to do?
