"We were searching for potential, not accomplishment.

Peter told us: “We’re not looking for Einstein. We’re looking for Howard Hughes.”

Yikes... Einstein wasn't just some sort of smart guy with potential who filled his brain with useless knowledge. Einstein and his theories were important to a lot of practical things that maybe Gibson fails to properly appreciate in his analysis.

Anhh, I dunno. Over simplify much? Beware of sound bites that make a good book but don't match reality. Lots of these folks advocating skipping college went to top 25 colleges themselves and their kids likely will to. Also, some of the best startups come out of businesses started while the founders were at or soon after they graduated from Stanford, MIT, Harvard, etc. Universities are and will continue to be factories for startups and talented entrepreneurs. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.
